I am a qualified counsellor (Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling) and registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
As a member of the BACP, I am on an Accredited Register, certified by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. The Accredited Register programme was set up by the Government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public. This accreditation demonstrates commitment to high professional standards, to enhancing safety and to delivering a better service.
My foundation approach is Person Centred and I work in an integrative way.
Person Centred means you are empowered to discover solutions to issues in a supportive environment.
As a counsellor, I will offer you my honesty and respect, while we explore issues you feel you would like to bring to counselling.
Integrative means that I may sometimes suggest using a variety of different counselling models and theories, in order to provide the most useful framework for working on your issues.
As well as private practise, I also worked for three years as a counsellor in the voluntary sector, with Cruse Bereavement Support – working with individuals affected by grief and loss.
Before training as a counsellor, my main job was working (for over thirty years) as a teacher and trainer – much of that time working with children and adults with learning and physical disabilities.
